PE Kit

Dear Parents and Carers,

Following on from the letter that was sent out in July, this is a reminder regarding the expectations for children’s PE kit at Millbrook Primary School. We feel that it is important that children have the correct kit in school for both safety and hygiene reasons.

KS1:

White T shirt or polo shirt

Blue or black shorts or leggings

Blue or black tracksuit bottoms or leggings

Pumps or trainers

KS2:

White T shirt or polo shirt

Blue or black shorts or leggings

Trainers

If it is safe to do so, we will endeavour to run PE sessions even in cold and wet weather. During the winter months, we advise that children also bring a plain tracksuit to keep them warm. In the summer, children will also need appropriate sun protection (sun cream and sun hats).

At Millbrook children think that P.E is

"Good, healthy and challenging."

"Athletics  competitions are fun...."

"What we like about P.E...

"Doing the different sports."

"Everything, its sporty, its fun!"

"How we do fun and different sports."

"I love doing the sports, I love the running around bit."

"The funny motions that we do."

"We do loads of different activities!"

Clubs

At Millbrook we believe all children should have the opportunity to participate in extra curricular activities and clubs outside of school hours. We try and offer a wide range of different sports clubs to the children at our school.

Some of the after school sports clubs on offer this year are:

Football

Gymnastics

Dance

Rounders

Multi-skills

Multi-sports.

You can find more details of these on the 'Clubs' Section of out website:

Play Leaders

Each year all of our Year Five pupils are trained as Playleaders. As part of this they learn how to plan, set up and deliver small group activities to other children. Each lunch time a group of pupils will run an activity for the other children in school. Once they get to year Six the children will then be ready to train up and support the next Year Five cohort.

As well as teaching the children valuable coaching skills it also gets other children active and has a positive impact on behaviour at lunch times.

The Curriculum

At Millbrook PE is based on the National Primary Curriculum 2013.

We aim to give children a varied and interesting PE curriculum that gives them access to as many different sports as possible. Our PE lessons are based on the Val Sabin Scheme of work however teachers are free to use their professional judgement to modify and develop this where they feel it is beneficial to do so.
