Central Art Gallery

Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the art gallery in Ashton. Did you know entry was free? We focussed on the Harry Rutherford exhibition and by responding to his art work.

In the coming weeks we will continue to study him as an artist. We will then take part in a workshop run by the curator from central art gallery where we will paint our own designs for market stalls on wooden blocks. "Set out your Stall"

Family Learning

We had a fabulous Family Learning week in Year 1!  We all had lots of fun making story boxes, puppets, telling stories around the fire in the forest and acting out the different Katie Morag Island Stories - thank you to all the parents and carers that came in to share this with us, the children loved having you there.

This week we made puppets of the characters from Knuffle Bunny (the story we are reading in English at the moment). The children thoroughly enjoyed making their puppets and we also had a puppet show, which involved acting out the story to the rest of the class.

In Maths we have been solving subtraction sentences and the children have been working hard to unlock the padlocks by finding the correct answer on the key and also the correct parking space for the car. It's safe to say, we have been having lots of fun!

We have had lots going on in our continious provision areas including making picnics for Teddy and skeletons out of playdough for our Human Body topic!
