Our Ethos

The Millbrook Way… means that everything we do is driven by our school values:

Striving for Excellence Caring for All

Our aim is:-

To create a holistic learning experience

We are a strong, caring community with a warm and friendly atmosphere. It is our belief that children thrive in an environment where there are clear routines and where they are encouraged and cared for – which is what we endeavour to provide everyday.

Everything we do at Millbrook Primary & Nursery School is designed so that our pupils develop as learners, individuals and citizens in an ever changing world. Millbrook pupils are caring and can work together. They are also able to think critically, creatively and manage risk. This powerful combination emanates in excellent results and happy pupils.

We have an outstanding, dedicated team who are very caring and committed to providing the very best education for our children, and we have developed a broad, balanced and creative curriculum.

As a school, we believe in fostering strong and meaningful co-operation between home and school – partnership is a key factor to ensuring success in school. If at any time you have concerns or queries, please do not hesitate to contact the school or make an appointment to see me. I look forward to welcoming you to our school.

The Millbrook Way… Our Vision

At Millbrook Primary and Nursery School we strive for excellence and care for all. We believe children thrive when there are clear routines and they are encouraged and cared for. Our curriculum is designed to develop pupils as learners, individuals and citizens. Our children think critically, creatively and manage risk. They are happy and achieve well. Our curriculum is concept led and knowledge rich which helps the children to know more, remember more and learn more. Our team is committed to providing the best children for all our children. We are inclusive and celebrate diversity and difference. We are all different but we are all equal. We work in partnership with our parents, families and community.

Our core values are respect, resilience and collaboration.

At Millbrook we respect and celebrate each other’s difference. We use good manners and kindness and understand our own rights and those of others. We learn about other cultures. Our School Parliament help us learn how to protect and care for our environment. Our children are taught to be responsible citizens who are able to make their own decisions.

As a Forest School we teach our children resilience and self-regulation from a young age. We teach our children to enjoy challenge and bounce back from setbacks. We encourage a growth mindset and give feedback to develop learning. We support wellbeing using a whole school approach.

At Millbrook we collaborate to keep everyone safe and well. We work in groups and promote and provide opportunities for speaking and listening. We work together with our local community and our partners in the expressive arts such as the Halle and Local Theatre. We understand how to co-operate with each other and behave well.
