Summer Reading Challenge 2025
This half-term the children had a special assembly with James, a Tameside Librarian from Stalybridge library. He came into school to introduce this year’s summer reading challenge.
The theme is Story Garden-Adventures in Nature and the Great Outdoors! The children can sign up to take part in Story Garden at Tameside libraries this summer holidays. It’s fun, friendly and absolutely free! All you have to do is read a minimum of 6 library books and collect rewards along the way.
The challenge launched on Saturday 5th July and will run until Christmas, so there is plenty of time to get on with that reading! If you finish before Saturday 20th September, you will be presented with your certificate in school and be entered into a special prize draw to win a £100 Sports Direct voucher!
What do I do?
• Register for the Challenge at any Tameside library.* You need to be a library member to take part, but it’s free to join the library. You’ll get a Story Garden booklet!
• Choose books to read (anything from the library that you like!).
• Read your books and write them on your Story Garden booklet.
• Collect special stickers (some of them are smelly!) and prizes as you read your books.
What do I get when I complete the challenge?
• A Story Garden medal.
• A seed pencil.
• A Story Garden certificate (children who finish before Saturday 20 September have these presented at Tameside primary schools in October 2025)
Tameside libraries will also be hosting free activities throughout the summer- for further information please see the attached picture or visit their website.
