Millbrook is committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all children, and expects our staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

In relation to children and young people, safeguarding and promoting their welfare is defined in

'Working together to safeguard children' as:

• protecting children from maltreatment
• preventing impairment of children's health or development
• ensuring that children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
• taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.

The people responsible for all safeguarding issues within the school is Miss Turner, Mrs Ashton and Miss Connelly. Our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy is set out below.

Worried about a child?

If you have any concerns about a child at risk of harm, abuse or neglect, it is important that you report it. Your phone call could help safeguard a child who may be at risk.

The safeguarding functions within the Tameside Children’s Early Help and Safeguarding Hub (EHASH) bring together multi-agency resources to provide a quick and robust response to safeguarding children and providing services through Targeted Family Help. Effective use of this form will aid that process and ensure accurate and timely responses are provided.

Operation Encompass

On 21^st January 2019 Millbrook Primary and Nursery School implemented a project that runs jointly between schools and Greater Manchester Police. This project is called Operation Encompass.  It aims to support children who are affected by domestic violence by ensuring that their school is informed. This allows the school to support the children. If you have any other questions about this project, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

PREVENT

As part of Millbrook Primary schools  ongoing safeguarding and child protection duties we are fully behind the government's Prevent Strategy. Staff have received the official Home Office WRAP training from the Local Safeguarding Children's Board on what Prevent is about and how to deal with any issues they may see inside or outside the school.
