Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) and citizenship enables children to become healthy, independent and responsible members of society. At Millbrook Primary, we encourage our pupils to play a positive role in contributing to the life of the school. In doing so we develop their sense of worth. We teach them how society is organised and governed. We ensure they experience the process of democracy in school through the school and eco councils. The class representatives meet regularly to discuss school matters. We teach them about rights and responsibilities and they learn to appreciate what it means to be a positive member of a diverse multicultural society.
Spiritual, Moral, Social, Cultural (SMSC) development plays a significant part in a child's ability to learn and achieve. We therefore aim to provide an education that provides children with opportunities to explore and develop their own values and beliefs, spiritual awareness, high standards of personal behaviour, a positive caring attitude towards other people, an understanding of their social and cultural traditions and an appreciation of the diversity and richness of other cultures. This is embedded throughout all aspects of school life.
